I am really confused as the book published by Pearson said ''the exchange rate of DX to FX is the amount of DX required in exchange for 1unit of the FX.''. However , I read most of exercise that the defination does not suit in it.

exchange rate 有分direct quote and indirect quote
direct quote: the domestic currency per unit of the foreign currency
indirect quote: the foreign currency per unit of the domestic currency
