tangent problem (question c)

in the figure, AB is the diameter of a semi-circle. AD, DC and BC are tangents to the semi-circle at A, Q and B respectively. P is a point on AB such that QP bisects AB. AC and PQ intersect at R. Let AD=a and BC=b.

a. Express the length of DC in terms of a and b. (ans: a+b)
b. Show that QR = ab/(a+b) (ans: corr. sides, similar triangles)
*c. Show that PR=QR.

AD,PQ,BC are parallel
so, AR/RC=AP/PB=DQ/QC= a/b
角BAC=角BAC
triangle APR ~ triangle ABC
PR/BC=a/a+b as well and BC=b
