What I can't find it useful is classical Chinese Language. Strongly suggest to put it into Chinese literature not the compulsory part since not all the people like it while being useless in communication.
I think Liberal Studies is crucial as emphasized by many foreign universities, but the way of assessment is debatable - too rush for candidates to present what they've learnt (not the aim of exam) and unclear of what means by "clear elaborations".
